As in all aspects of holiday home ownership, security is always an important decision and no more so here in Spain. If you are looking to improve security of your home or business with security shutters, retractable security grills, roller shutters, intruder alarm systems, CCTV, fire alarm systems, first aid, access control, automatic gates, or window screens then look no further.

At home it is normal to have an alarm system and in Spain OPI Rentals can help you to decide which alarm system or supplier to choose. The choices are in two forms:

• 1. C.R .A.C or Securitas which are a response alarm whereby you pay an annual fee for a guard to respond to a intrusion on your property. OPI Rentals has engaged with both companies and can liaise on your behalf to install.
• 2. "Bells and whistles". This is a less expensive solution and one which has an audible sound when an intrusion happens but no guard response.

In Spain you will notice that the majority if not all houses within some coastal urbanizations that their doors and windows are fitted with ornate but needed security grills. This is not because there is a vast amount of major house crime but we are in an environment that is concentrated on holiday makers and thus sometimes they can leave doors or windows open because of the heat and therefore entice petty house crime.

OPI Rentals do not let any house or ground floor apartment without security grills and thus all our owners will require them. Again this service is available from your local OPI Rentals Office and the team will advise on the type and what is recommended. They will then provide a competitive quotation that is very rarely beaten and organise the installation while you are back home. Upon completion your property will be promoted for rental. Please be aware that some insurance companies do not cover house contents if you do not have adequate security.

As in the UK the market for CCTV is growing as the concious owner wants to be protected and it is no difference here on the coast of Spain. OPI Rentals can install a CCTV system throughout a house and grounds that will offer the very best in security and therefore offering peace of mind. If you considering or are indeed renting your property then you must have the minimum of one fire extinguisher and one fire blanket for the kitchen. Most people have them in the UK so it is no different here, in fact maybe more so as you as an owner will not know personally your tenants and therefore to have fire safety products is so important. With most properties having a BBQ then there is a chance with one or two "sangria's" that an accident can occur so be safe and ask your OPI Rentals Office for them to be installed.

With children being on holiday and getting excited, running by the pool etc then a first aid kit is another necessary house product. Again as mentioned previously with most homes having a BBQ then if in the event of a burn then it is always an idea to have at least the minimum of a travel aid box. OPI Rentals will supply with the fire safety products a comprehensive first aid box that will cover most holiday situations when it comes to first aid.
